How it all started

I used to pump out content like nobody's business.

Literally every platform every day.

It was easy, too, thanks to my dead simple "system":

  1. Wake up and coach my clients
  2. Write about the things I helped them with, or record a video—usually both

That's it.

I gave very little thought to attention spans, "hooks," trends, edits, or the algorithm.

That used to be fine.

Then, social media evolved, and as any coach or content creator will vouch for: you now have to play games to reach people.

Everybody's tolerance for these games varies, and mine happens to be extremely low.

Especially since what tends to "win" doesn't align with my values.

Why am I telling you this?

Because I recently made some changes that have helped me enjoy content creation again, and be more consistent—like I used to be when I started:

No, podcasts aren't technically social media—but you get the idea.

Forcing myself to play certain games, with any form of content creation, took the enjoyment out of the process and crushed my consistency.

I'm determined to turn that around.

Speaking of the podcast, this week's episode with Danni Bosworth just dropped!

She's a fellow coach who I personally worked with in 2024-2025 to stay afloat while I had a lot going on.

We talked about our time together, and a lot more:

  • How to be more flexible with your process (so you actually enjoy it and stick with it)
  • Navigating body image
  • Non-fat loss goals
  • Having a healthier relationship with data
  • The real value of coaching (it's not what people think)

Reply to this email with where you listen to podcasts, and I'll send you the direct link.

P.S. If you're more of a video person, that just dropped, too:

P.P.S. Is there anything you'd like me to discuss on a future podcast?

As you may already know if you listen to the show, most of the solo episodes are exactly this: requests from clients, or members of my private email list.

So let me know what it'd be helpful, and I'll prioritize it!

I spent this past weekend in Puerto Madryn, a coastal city in Patagonia known for its marine life. It's very normal to see penguins, sea lions, elephant seals, and even whales right off the coast. As an animal lover, you can imagine how much I enjoyed this. I walked this pier in the mornings and evenings... and routinely saw penguins and sea lions swimming around I also enjoyed an enormous amount of food. Buenos Aires, despite being right on the water, isn't exactly known for its seafood. For...

"1,200 calories is for a toddler!" This is what I would've told you at 17 years old, as a brand new trainer. Partially because I believed it was true—partially because I saw other trainers getting crucified for telling their clients to eat 1,200 calories. So for a long time, I had 1,400 as an arbitrary floor that I wouldn't drop clients under. But here's the problem with this: Many people—especially women—maintain on 1,600-1,800 calories per day. So to lose weight at a reasonable, motivating...

On Tuesday, I dropped a podcast on how to look better—not just weigh less. Most people want to look better, obviously, but approach dieting as if their only goal IS weighing less. There are important differences between these pursuits, as my client Sarah knows. That's why she ditched her scale focus for a body composition focus, and lost almost 20 pounds of pure body fat using a specific four-step process. I broke down all four steps here: Spotify Apple Any other platform But I wish I...
